How it Works
The SLF and all subgroups work together to provide the public with relevant bulletins about snow conditions and risk levels, educate the public on how to assess and prevent avalanches, and research tools that can track environmental dangers and community risk.
SLF Bulletin
The SLF and all subgroups work together to provide the public with relevant bulletins about snow conditions and risk levels. The bulletin is built into pyramid form starting from top to bottom: danger level, danger location, danger patterns, danger description, other information, and measured values
Individual Prevention Strategies
The SLF educates and advertises mountain safety practices such as staying within secured pistes, using proper mountaineering gear, taking mountain rescue courses.
Risk Management
Researchers map and predict avalanches. This allows for a risk assessment as it allows for tracking what types of avalanches are occurring and where. Researchers can assess the snowpacks and individual slopes to better understand risk levels.
